Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.
My name is Margaret Counts-Klebe and I’m privileged to have lived in Lexington for most of my life. I have served as a Precinct 6 Town Meeting Member for 12 years and am running for reelection.
I have also volunteered to serve our Town for most of my life. Currently I serve as a board member for the Dana Home Foundation and an advisory board member for Special Needs Arts Programs. These two organizations amplify the voice of Lexington residents who are not always directly heard—our seniors and our residents with intellectual and physical special needs. It is very important to me that all voices be heard.
Why are you running for Town Meeting?
I am running because I believe that I can make a positive impact, bring wider perspectives to the table, and work towards a stronger, more vibrant community.
How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?
Professionally, I work in nonprofit administration and have deep experience in looking critically at budgets and making strategic decisions. These are key skills for a Town Meeting Member. I know how to manage finances and keep program costs within affordable limits.
I feel lucky to live in Lexington and value the opportunity to continue to serve as a Town Meeting Member, if elected.
