I am running for re-election because Lexington faces significant challenges in the coming years, and I am committed to ensuring our community is prepared for the future. My listen-to-learn approach, combined with analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, allows me to make thoughtful, informed decisions that serve the best interests of all residents. I am dedicated to ensuring our town remains a place where families thrive, schools excel, and the community’s values are upheld. I would be honored to continue serving and helping Lexington navigate the challenges ahead with transparency, accountability, and a forward-thinking mindset.

How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?

I ask for your vote because my professional skills and extensive experience in Lexington’s schools and municipal government uniquely qualify me to serve in this role. I have been deeply involved in our community, serving on the Clarke and Harrington Site Councils and as Co-Chair of the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC). Additionally, I was a member of the LPS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Community Input Team.

On the municipal side, I have served on the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee and as two terms as a Town Meeting Member, including a term as Vice-Chair of Precinct 1. I am also a member of the Lexington Human Rights Committee, the Lexington School Committee, the Board of Cary Library, and the Vision for Lexington Committee.

These diverse roles have given me a well-rounded perspective, ensuring I can effectively represent and advocate for our community as a Town Meeting Member for Precinct 1.

How will you manage the diverse opinions of your constituents, particularly when they do not agree with your own?:

I recognize that diverse perspectives are essential to fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment. I actively seek to understand the viewpoints, even when they differ from my own, by engaging in open and respectful dialogue. My approach is centered on active listening, empathy, and a commitment to finding common ground while upholding the core values and mission of our community. I believe that constructive discussions lead to better decision-making, and I strive to create an atmosphere where all voices feel heard and valued. Even when consensus is not possible, I ensure that every perspective is acknowledged and that decisions are made with fairness, transparency, and the best interests of the collective in mind.

What is the most important issue in this election to you personally, and what ideas do you have about how to address this issue?

The pressing issue facing Lexington is the urgent need for a new high school. Addressing the needs of our students while ensuring fiscal responsibility requires a thoughtful and collaborative approach. It is essential to continue engaging the community in meaningful dialogue, gathering input from educators, parents, students, and taxpayers to develop a plan that maintains the excellence of Lexington’s education system without placing an undue financial burden on residents. Striking this balance will require creative solutions, careful planning, and a commitment to transparency so that we can invest in our future while remaining mindful of costs.

The current Bloom proposal effectively meets the educational needs of our students and the district, ensuring that Lexington maintains its reputation for excellence. While the final cost of constructing a new high school has yet to be determined, the proposed tax increases are designed to be incremental, preventing any significant financial burden on residents in a single year.
