Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.
I am a lifelong Lexington resident, having grown up here and graduated from Lexington Public Schools, and have been a Town Meeting member since 2019. My deep roots in this town fuel my commitment to serving the community and preserving what makes Lexington special. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Hampton University, a top HBCU in Virginia, and an MBA from Pace University in New York. Professionally, I have over 20 years of experience in corporate marketing and advertising, where I developed strategic partnerships and communication initiatives.
Beyond my professional life, I am a strong advocate for housing, diversity and inclusion. I am passionate about creating a more inclusive, welcoming Lexington where residents of all backgrounds can thrive. I also enjoy community service and civic engagement, and I have worked for several years with Human Services to help plan and promote Lexington’s annual Martin Luther King Day celebrations. I believe in the power of bringing people together to foster collaboration and understanding.
Why are you running for Town Meeting?
I am running for reelection to Town Meeting for Precinct 5 because I believe in the importance of civic engagement and thoughtful decision-making. Our town is facing critical choices in areas such as housing, school planning, and responsible growth, and I want to ensure that we approach these decisions collaboratively, with transparency and respect for diverse perspectives.
As a member of the Planning Board, Town Meeting, and several other Town committees, I have worked to promote smart planning, fiscal responsibility, and policies that align with Lexington’s long-term vision. I want to continue this work, ensuring that our Town remains welcoming, vibrant, and well-prepared for the future.
My approach is one of listening, learning, and leading with balance. I want to ensure that everyone in our precinct feels heard and that we can move forward as a community, even when we disagree.
How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?
My experience in public service, professional life, and community leadership has given me the skills needed to be an effective and thoughtful Town Meeting Member.
I have served in elected positions with the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee for over 12 years and have been actively engaged in Lexington’s local government for even longer. I was first elected to the Planning Board in 2021, where I now serve as Clerk. I have been a Town Meeting Member since 2019 and have served on the Housing Partnership Board, Transportation Advisory Committee, Diversity Advisory Task Force, and the Lexington Next–Comprehensive Plan Committee.
Professionally, my background in marketing and advertising has helped me develop strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills—all of which are essential in local governance. Additionally, as a licensed real estate agent, I bring firsthand knowledge of housing policy and zoning issues, which are key topics in Lexington today.
This combination of public service experience, professional expertise, and community engagement makes me well-equipped to represent Precinct 5 fairly and effectively in Town Meeting.
One of the most important responsibilities of a Town Meeting Member is to listen to the voices of our neighbors, even when there are strong differences of opinion. I believe in respectful, open dialogue, where people can express their views and be heard without hostility. I always believe that you can disagree without being disagreeable. When making decisions, I prioritize understanding the facts, weighing different perspectives, and seeking common ground. I actively engage with constituents, attend public meetings, and am always open to hearing new ideas. Even when I may not personally agree with a position, I recognize that my role is to represent the best interests of Precinct 5 and the Town as a whole.
I will continue to approach Town Meeting with a balanced, thoughtful, and solutions-oriented mindset. My goal is to help build consensus where possible and ensure that all voices are part of the conversation.
What is the most important issue in this election to you personally, and what ideas do you have about how to address this issue?
One of the most important issues facing Lexington today is how we manage growth and change while maintaining the good qualities and strengths of our community. This is particularly relevant as we navigate the major issue of implementing the MBTA Communities zoning law. This issue has sparked important conversations, raised concerns, and generated vastly differing perspectives across town.
Lexington, like many communities in Massachusetts, faces the challenge of balancing State housing requirements with local planning priorities. The MBTA Communities zoning law requires Lexington to create more multi-family housing near transit-accessible areas, and our town was one of the first to comply. Now, with a push to reverse or limit this progress through Article 2, we must carefully consider how to move forward.
I believe that thoughtful, data-driven planning is the best approach—one that meets State requirements while ensuring that housing growth is sustainable and beneficial to our town. We need to expand housing options so that teachers, seniors, and young families can afford to live in Lexington, ensuring that our community remains diverse, inclusive, and vibrant. At the same time, we must protect the Town’s infrastructure, schools, and services by making strategic, well-informed decisions rather than reacting out of fear or misinformation. To address this issue, I support a transparent, fact-based discussion about housing that includes community voices, expert analysis, and long-term planning. I support a balanced approach to zoning that expands housing options without overwhelming existing infrastructure. I support a focus on affordability and inclusivity, ensuring that Lexington remains accessible to a broad range of residents.
Lexington is at a pivotal moment where the decisions we make today will shape our town for decades to come. We must take a measured, thoughtful approach to growth—one that ensures we remain a welcoming, well-planned, and financially stable community. I am committed to working collaboratively, keeping discussions respectful, and making informed choices that serve all Lexington residents. I enjoy living in Lexington, and I am very committed to helping our town navigate important decisions with thoughtfulness, collaboration, and fairness. My approach to public service is rooted in engagement and respect. Whether it’s housing, schools, town planning, or equity initiatives, I want to help ensure that Lexington remains a welcoming and thriving community for all residents—longtime and new. I am particularly committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion—a value that Lexington has prioritized in its Lexington Next Comprehensive Plan. I will continue to advocate for policies that make our town accessible, fair, and forward-thinking. If re-elected, I will continue to listen to and engage with Precinct 5 residents, make informed, balanced decisions that consider multiple perspectives, encourage respectful discussions that bring people together and advocate for responsible planning and fiscal responsibility.
I would be honored to have your vote for reelection to Town Meeting for Precinct 5. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime—I welcome conversations and input from all members of our community.
Thank you for your support!
