Gun Control In Massachusetts: Where Are We Now?

The League of Women Voters of Lexington will host Jen Muroff to discuss updates in Gun Control legislation in Massachusetts. In late 2022, The House voted 120-38 on wide-ranging legislation that prohibits firearms in some public spaces, expands the state’s “red flag” law, seeks to crack down on the spread of ghost guns with new registration requirements, updates the statewide ban on assault weapons, and streamlines the licensing process. The measure makes slight modifications to where people can carry firearms, expands the state’s assault weapons ban to include firearms developed after 2004, and aims to stem the flow of illegal firearms.

The bill also includes language that prohibits someone from bringing a gun into schools or government buildings and polling locations.
