Lexington High School Fall Choral Concert

Lexington High School Chamber Singers, Madrigal Singers and Concert Choir present a Fall Honors Choral Concert at Hancock United Church of Christ, 1912 Massachusetts Avenue in Lexington, on Wednesday, November 6 at 7pm. Under the direction of Jason Iannuzzi, the choruses will present a program of a cappella music from the 16th to the 21st century. Madrigal Singers will feature love poetry in English, French and English. Chamber Singers will perform a set of dark-hued pieces on texts of Federico García Lorca by Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara, as well as a stunning wordless song of the mountains by Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály. In honor of the 200th anniversary of Anton Bruckner’s birth, Concert Choir will perform his choral gem, Locus iste, along with an arrangement of an Asturian Spanish folk song, Si la nieve resbala. Members of the percussion section of LHS Wind Ensemble will be featured on the program, along with Lexington High School Class of 2021 alumnus, Varun Sasisekharan, as guest soloist. This is a program with something for every musical taste which can be a wonderful distraction in this politically fraught time. The concert is open to the public and free of charge, although cash and check donations will be accepted in support of scholarships for our upcoming concert tour of Spain in April.
