Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.
I have a legal background (patent law). I’ve lived in Lexington for 13 years, and have two kids currently at LHS.
Why are you running for Town Meeting?
I believe in civic participation, have time available, and stay informed on local issues, so I’m confident I’ll be a solid contributor to Town Meeting. (Also, some neighbors in Town Meeting told me there was an open spot in Precinct 3, asked me if I’d be willing to run, and I did not have a good excuse to say no.)
How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?
I ran the condo board at my last home (in Cambridge), and I’ve been running our neighborhood pool’s finances and operations for the past 6-7 years.
I’m a litigation attorney, so that happens kinda regularly.
What is the most important issue in this election to you personally, and what ideas do you have about how to address this issue?
I’m passionate about clean energy, and have done some volunteer lobbying for climate legislation. I also support adding more housing stock to Lexington, particularly multi-family, to better support businesses in Town Center and extend the tax base.
I’m pragmatic, however, and will not reflexively support all housing/climate measures. Details and numbers matter.
I’d also like to learn about minor problems that aren’t getting attention, including very small problems, and try to raise and address them. (The proverbial “pot hole on 4th street.”)
