Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.
My wife Linda and I moved to Lexington in 1966. Linda was originally from Burlington, Vermont and I from South Portland, Maine. We have three children, all of whom went through the Lexington schools, and we have five grandchildren. As a lawyer specializing in municipal law and municipal finance, I was interested in learning how Lexington was governed. I became an early supporter of Lexington transitioning to a professional Town Manager-Select Board form of government. The first Town Manager appointed me to the Conservation Commission and shortly thereafter I became Town Counsel and later a Select Board Member. I am a former chair of the Trustees of the Cary Library and now a current member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Fund for Lexington, and the Lexington Scholarship Fund.
Why are you running for Town Meeting?
I am running for reelection to Town Meeting because it is local government that fosters community and provides most of the services we rely on in our daily lives. With my institutionalized knowledge, I believe I can approach every issue with an open mind. Our representative Town Meeting is worth supporting.
