The Jonas Clarke Middle School math team won the Euclid division at the first meet of the Intermediate Math League of Eastern Massachusetts (IMLEM) season.
The team scored 210 points, its best opening-meet score since 2022. It finished one point ahead of second-place Charles E. Brown Middle School of Newton. Among all 53 schools in the league, it tied for first.
Four students on the team earned perfect scores of 18 out of 18, answering all 12 questions correctly: Ben J., Yyug K., Ronan M., and Felix W.
IMLEM has held math competitions for middle school students since 1965. This year, 53 schools from eastern Massachusetts are competing in five meets. At each meet, every student answers four questions in each of three individual rounds, for a maximum of 18 points, and then the team works together on a team round. Schools are grouped into divisions of similar strength.
