I felt relieved when the Supreme Court blocked new federal rules that would have allowed the U.S. Postal Service to stop delivery of certain mail-in ballots, as I almost always vote by mail these days. Even so, I chose to hand-deliver my mail-in ballot for the midterms.

I’m happy to see that the League of Women Voters of Lexington (MA) wants everyone to have the same option I and others are fortunate to have. The League is expanding its Rides to the Polls program to provide free rides to voters not only on Election Day, November 3, but also during the early voting period, October 17 to October 30.

The new ride dates are intended to accommodate voters who wish to vote early in person, or who want to hand-deliver their mail-in ballots, but need transportation to do so. Those wishing to arrange a ride on Election Day or during the early voting period can call the League at (339) 223-0832.
