On September 12, Follen Church hosted a venue opener concert by Massachusetts Chamber Music Artists Crossroads.
MCMA Founder/Artistic Director violinist Haig Hovsepian was joined by cellist Ismael Guerrero and pianist Matias Cuevas for works by Gayane Chebotaryan, Astor Piazzolla, and Johannes Brahms.
Chebotaryan’s Piano Trio gave the audience a distinctive work deserving renewed attention.
Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires filled the church with the energy, sensuality, and intensity of tango.
Brahms’s Piano Trio No. 1 in B major, Op. 8, brought the evening to an exhilarating finale.
The audience enthusiastically gave a standing ovation and received a return to the stage for bows.
With Crossroads, MCMA launched its 2026–27 season, reflecting the organization’s commitment to presenting chamber music and bringing audiences closer to works they might not otherwise encounter.
The season continues December 5 with Tradition Unbound, featuring Hovsepian, cellist Sterling Elliott, and pianist Janice Lu exploring the intersection of classical music and jazz.
