The following incidents were selected from the Lexington Police Department log during the week leading up to September 7. The Lexington Observer does not independently verify this information.
Community Engagement
Wednesday, September 2 at 8:00 a.m., Sergeant Dell’Anno met with Eamon Sheehan, head of the PE/ Health Department and Wellness Board of Lexington Public Schools, to review the implementation of a bicycle safety course in the school curriculum. Betty Gao and Jim Cadenhead of the Lexington Bike Committee also attended.
Wednesday, September 2 at 10:30 a.m., Sergeant Dell’Anno met with Marianne Kruse to discuss her concerns about juveniles riding bicycles recklessly throughout town and the potential safety implications of this behavior. Following their discussion, Ms Kruse expressed her appreciation for the Police Department’s willingness to hear her concerns.
Saturday, September 5, at 5:30 p.m., Sergeant Secatore assisted several individuals in front of the station who were seeking information about local bicycle repair services and general bicycle-related resources. The individuals were visiting from out of town and also asked about the local bike path and other cycling information. Sergeant Secatore provided guidance and assistance to help them find the resources they needed.
Community Engagement – Comfort Dogs
Monday, August 31 at 12 noon, Detectives Sullivan and Hankins took K9s Maisey and Watson to the DPW for a facility visit.
Tuesday, September 1 at 8:10 a.m., School Resource Officers Hankins and Sullivan, along with K9s Maisey and Watson, spent the morning at Lexington High School greeting 9th graders on their first day back.
Tuesday, September 1 at 1:25 p.m., VWA from Concord District Court visited the Comfort Dogs at the police station.
Wednesday, September 2, at 8: 30 a.m., Detective Sullivan and K9 Maisey greeted students at Clark Middle School for their first day back.
Wednesday, September 2, at 10.00 a.m., Detective Sullivan and K9 Maisey greeted students in gym class and the guidance office during their first day of school.
Suspicious Activity
Friday, September 4, at 5:30 p.m., a Monroe Rd. caller reported a male walking down the street with a suitcase and wires. The responding officer checked the area but did not locate anyone fitting the description.
Friday, September 4, at 10:40 p.m., a Kendall Rd. caller reported kids ringing doorbells, then leaving. The responding officer checked the area, and a resident had reported a party. The officer advised individuals to keep the area noise down. The officer told the resident to call if anything else occurred.
Noise Complaints
Tuesday, September 1 at 11:00 p.m., a caller reported a loud motorcycle revving its engine behind CVS on Mass Ave. The responding officer checked the area but did not locate a motorcycle.
Friday, September 4 at 9:30 p.m., a caller reported loud noise coming from juveniles in the parking lot of Willards Woods at North St. The caller also reported a vehicle, seemingly belonging to the group, was parked on his lawn. The responding officer spoke with the juveniles, and they moved along.
Animal Control and Complaints
Friday, September 4 at 6:05 p.m., a Cedar St. resident reported observing a raccoon that appeared to be sleeping. The responding officer suggested she notify wildlife rescue about the raccoon. If there were further concerns, the resident was advised to call again.
Saturday, September 5 at 11:55 a.m., the same Cedar St. resident reported a sick or injured raccoon in the yard. Animal Control responded and put down the raccoon with one round. DPW was notified for pickup.
Larceny/ Theft
Saturday, September 5 at 6:40 p.m., a Lexington Ridge Dr. resident reported a stolen package containing perfume.
Fraud
Monday, August 31 at 1:10 p.m., an East Emerson Rd. resident reported two transactions from his Bank of America checking account and three charges on his Amazon credit card. This resident informed Bank of America and Amazon, and both accounts were frozen. He will contact the three major credit bureaus.
Monday, August 31 at 2:50 p.m., a Bedford St. resident reported 21 transactions on his Amazon account to his Citibank card. No charges went through on the card, and there is no monetary loss at this time. This resident’s card was canceled. Citibank provided a replacement, and he froze his credit with the three major bureaus. The responding officer advised him to watch for any further fraudulent transactions.
Tuesday, September 1 at 6:30 a.m., a Katahdin Drive resident reported a spam text from PayPal. She was advised to block the number. There has been no monetary loss.
Wednesday, September 2 at 2:55 p.m., a Captain Parker Arms resident reported fraudulent activity on his debit card.
Friday, September 4 at 11:40 a.m., a Grey Oaks Circle resident reported an unauthorized AT&T phone line opened using her name and e-mail. She received an email regarding a wireless phone bill that was due, and she thought it was suspicious. She filed a claim with AT&T on 8/17 to advise that the phone line had not been opened. There is no monetary loss at this time, and AT&T advised her to report the incident to the police. The responding officer advised this resident to notify the credit bureaus of the activity. This resident is resolving the issue with AT&T and was advised to contact the police if she becomes aware of further unusual activity.
