Lexington resident Zehra Ellahi is helping teens at an orphanage in Bangladesh learn the basics of jewelry making through hands-on initiative centered on creativity, confidence and practical skill development.
Her connection with these students began through her toy charity called Little Founders for Change, initially through toy distributions and later through her story reading and online teaching programs. Now, that journey has come full circle as she introduces jewelry making as a skill the orphanage students can continue to develop over time.
During the sessions, students create simple handmade pieces while learning about design and self-expression. The activity also provides an early introduction to vocational learning, helping them build practical skills that may support future income-generating opportunities.
For Zehra, the initiative is about giving these students more than a creative experience. It is about helping them develop a practical skill.
