Everyone should get out and vote on Tuesday, June 16th to let their voice be heard. I strongly encourage a NO vote. We don’t want the word free removed from our trash bylaw. It has been part of a commitment to all citizens, regardless of their individual trash disposal needs, for over 100 years.

If the word free were removed it would leave everyone victim to the whim of future Select Boards. Whatever may be promised now could change at anytime by a vote of 3 out of 5 Select Board members.

The trash system we have now is one that works for everyone. We all have enough complications in our lives, keep trash simple. If our present system serves your needs join me in voting NO. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.

  1. This is the simplest argument and it is the correct argument.

Vote NO, because these folks are just looking for more revenue sources.

Example: When I grew up, you could use the tennis courts for free in the town center.

After paying SKY HIGH property taxes, you now have to BUY a membership, AND THEN pay a reservation fee on top that.

Where is our town money going where you have to pay more for something you already paid for?

Do you want these greedy people to do the same with your trash? For now, it’s “just a small fee.” Tomorrow it’s going to become a huge fee and you won’t be able to do anything about it.

Please stop this insanity and just vote NO. These people are taking a simple issue, and creating a massive pointless debate so they can reach into your pockets for more money. That’s it.
