Arbor Day Ceremony to Be Held

One of the more poignant Lexington traditions is the Arbor Day Celebration organized by the Lexington Field & Garden Club, the Department of Public Works, and the Lexington Tree Committee.

This year it is held on April 24, 2026, at 10:00 am, Tower Hill Park,1200 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington. The music is wonderful, a tree is planted, and the honorees are Harriet Hathaway, Dorothy Lally, Barbara Mix, Joan Rising, Betty J Wilson, and Amelia Yanakis. Guests are invited to take home a tree sapling donated by the Lexington DPW in honor of Arbor Day.

For decades, the Lexington Field and Garden Club, the oldest garden club in America, has held an annual tree-planting ceremony to create community awareness and honor the memory of those club members who passed way during the year.
