Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.

My name is Varda Haimo. I am running for Town Meeting as a write-in candidate. I have lived in Lexington with my husband, Jim Cervantes, since 1995. We have three children, two of whom graduated from Lexington High School, and the third who graduated in the LABBB Program. I got involved in town politics when I presented a Citizen Article to Town Meeting concerning construction noise in 2020. This passed almost unanimously. In 2023, I was a member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Transportation, which reviewed public transportation in Lexington. My business partner and I sold our bakery Bread Obsession in July 2025. We moved the bakery to Lexington in 2022, and it continues to operate under new management. I would bring that small business owner perspective to town government. Prior to opening the bakery I was a project manager at financial companies in both Boston and New York City. I managed multi-million dollar projects, and I feel that is also useful experience for Lexington governance.

Why are you running for Town Meeting?

I have lived in Lexington for many years. I am proud to be a Lexington resident, and I feel so lucky to live here. Our town is beautiful and historic, and it is important to preserve the things that make it so, even as the town changes and evolves. Change is inevitable, and it is important to steer that change in a way that supports the greater good, rather than only benefiting a few. Now, more than ever, strong local government is an essential component to a healthy functioning democracy, and I would like to contribute to ensuring that Lexington’s town government remains strong and broad based.

Please write my name in for Precinct 9. Thank you for your support.
