Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.
My husband and I have been fortunate to raise our three children in Lexington for the past 18 years. Our youngest is now a junior at LHS. The qualities that brought us to Lexington– wonderful schools, diversity and inclusivity, a proud history, active volunteerism, top recreational resources, and commitment to sustainability–are among the qualities I strive to protect and foster as a Town Meeting Member.
Why are you running for Town Meeting?
I am running for re-election to Town Meeting because there are important challenges facing the town on which I am well-positioned to represent Precinct 4 due to my professional background and experience in town government. Key areas of focus will be evaluating policies related to population growth expected from the MBTA Communities Act and other dense development, considering ways to offset the residential tax impact of the much-needed LHS project, expanding protections for trees and natural spaces, and ensuring that Lexington is vigilant in protecting democracy and residents’ constitutional rights in light of current upheaval at the federal level.
How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?
As a Town Meeting Member since 2014 and former member of the School Committee, Appropriation Committee, and Permanent Building Committee, I have helped navigate the municipal and school budgeting process, capital planning challenges, and the impact of population growth on town resources. I am a practicing attorney, skilled at asking key questions, analyzing the impacts of proposed policies, and advocating on behalf of my precinct. In Town Meeting, I consider every proposal on its merits, prioritizing long-term, real-world impacts over ideology. Since I was first elected, I have never missed a meeting. I do my homework, listen to constituents, and stay informed throughout the year. I would be honored to be re-elected.
