At the start of the 2026-2027 academic year, the Russian School of Math (RSM) will move to 25 Depot Square in Lexington, departing from its current site on Hartwell Avenue. The popular math enrichment center currently serves more than 1,500 students. The move is intended to make the school more accessible.

“We are moving to help accommodate most of our students,” Sona Antonyan, RSM Regional Vice President, said. “It is primarily high schoolers, but even middle and elementary school parents benefit from the easier drop-off.”
The new location will be more convenient not only for students but also for staff, many of whom live in Lexington. Some LHS alumni on staff may even be able to walk to work.
In addition to the move to Depot Square, RSM plans to open a new Bedford location.
“Our main goal with this split is to make sure each school serves its community,” Antonyan said. “We want to stay in the heart of the community and be close to the families we serve.”
Together, the two new sites will replace the current location, which is situated at the edge of town and largely accessible only by car. The move will change that.
“The bike path is right there, and MBTA buses run directly to Depot Square,” Manasi Singhal, Vice President of RSM Lexington, told LexObserver. “For people without easy access to a car, this will be much more convenient.”
Antonyan also sees the move as an opportunity to connect students and families with businesses in Lexington Center.
“For families coming from outside Lexington, it’s much easier to avoid the back-and-forth traffic and simply stay in the Center,” she explained. “It will be exciting to see RSM bring more activity to the town.”
Though the new site won’t open for another year, RSM is already preparing classrooms. The 25 Depot Square location has a long history as a restaurant space, including Yangtze River since the 1970s and, more recently, Sanyo.
“We are in the process of all the permitting,” Antonyan said. “We finalized the layout and what we want it to look like, so it’s just about getting it ready.”
The move is part of RSM’s broader effort to better serve its students.
“Everything is pretty much in collaboration and comes from the best interest of the students,” Antonyan said.

Don’t overlook that in addition to the MBTA 62 and 76 bus there also the central connection to Lexpress.
