The following incidents were selected from the Lexington Police Department log during the week leading up to July 14. The Lexington Observer does not independently verify this information.
Community Engagement
Wednesday, July 9, at 10:15 a.m., Detective Hankins and K9 Watson were invited to the summer program at the Community Therapeutic Day School. During their visit, students and staff spent time with K9 Watson learning about his training and duties.
Friday, July 11, at 4:30 p.m., Sergeant Colatosti and Officer Ham visited a lemonade stand at Depot Square where they socialized with the young entrepreneurs.
Suspicious Activity
Thursday, July 10, at 3:41 a.m., a caller reported a suspicious white van on Spencer Street. He couldn’t tell whether someone was sleeping in it, and he didn’t have license plate information. The responding officer reported it was registered to an individual who was looking for a place to sleep. The responding officer gave him directions to the Travel Plaza rest area.
Thursday, July 10, at 5:30 p.m., an Emerson Gardens Road resident reported some sort of pole inside a bush and felt it was suspicious. The responding officer spoke with the homeowner and explained it appeared to be sticks children had used to play.
Friday, July 11, at 11:55 a.m., a Rangeway Street resident reported an unknown person had opened her front door. The person did not enter the house and left in a white Ford with “large antennas.” This resident was unaware that her brother had ordered DoorDash. All was in order.
Saturday, July 12, at 4:10 p.m., a James Street resident reported a man in a tan uniform trying to sell her pest removal services. The man did not have business cards when he knocked on her door and she thought it was strange. This resident spoke with her neighbor, and he had not had any work done by this individual. The responding officer reported the company was Eco Shield Pest Solutions, and they had been servicing clients in the area.
Disturbance and Noise Complaints
Tuesday, July 8, at 2:25 p.m., a Grant Street resident reported a disturbance at a house under construction on Sheridan Street. He reported the neighbor next door was outside “yelling at the construction workers” and causing a disturbance. The responding officer reported the Sheridan St. resident was upset regarding the decibel levels “shaking his house.” He intends to speak with the building department.
Thursday, July 10, at 12:45 p.m., a Sheridan St. resident reported excessive noise from a house under construction. An officer explained the building department had issued a permit for the work. He advised this individual to contact the building department with any questions.
Town Bylaws: Leaf Blower Infractions
During this past week, three reports regarding gas leaf blower bylaw infractions were made. Residents can be fined for these infractions. Please note that homeowners are responsible for all that occurs on their property. If necessary, remind your employees to follow Lexington’s Bylaws.
Animal Control and Complaints
Monday, July 7, at 11:15 a.m., a Page Road resident contacted ACO Leskouski regarding an incident that occurred on Wednesday, July 2 at 5:15 p.m. on Village Circle. The incident involved a dog biting another dog.
Tuesday, July 8, at 10:20 p.m., a Henderson Road resident reported that when she returned home, a black dog ran up to her house. It had a harness, but no collar. The responding officer reported they were unable to find the owner and transported the dog to the town kennel. On July 10, the Blake Road owner of the loose dog picked it up at the kennel.
Wednesday, July 9, at 6:30 p.m., a caller reported she struck a cat that ran in front of her car around 6 p.m. She said the cat fled the area. Responding officers checked the area, but the cat was gone on arrival.
Larceny and Burglary
Monday, July 7, at 2 p.m., an officer reported a theft at Ace Hardware on Woburn Street on July 3 at approximately 1:30 p.m. There were many shoppers in the store when a suspect grabbed two power tools from a shelf and fled without paying. The car’s registration was noted, and it was evident that the vehicle used had been involved in numerous past thefts in the area. Ace Hardware’s loss was $488.
Saturday, July 12, at 9:05 p.m., a report came in regarding a theft at the Lexington Travel Plaza on Marrett Road. When an individual went to the restroom, she left her laptop and bag, as well as multiple chargers, on the table. When she returned, she realized someone had taken her belongings from the table. This incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. There was a monetary loss of approximately $800.
Sunday, July 13, at 5 p.m., a Grove Street resident reported approximately 10 minutes before the call, he observed some activity on his Ring camera. When he returned home, he found open drawers and cabinets. He had more footage for the responding officer that showed “two females with headscarves” in the house. They entered the house through the rear sliding door and exited through the front door. Responding officers canvassed surrounding streets and requested detectives to process the scene.
Fraud
No incidents of fraud were reported this week! Three cheers for Lexington residents!
