I went for a walk around dusk on Friday evening, April 4, 2025, and as I was rounding the corner of Locust Ave and Mass. Ave, I saw that one of the firefighters was lowering the flag for the night at the East Lexington Fire Station. He had the flag draped over his shoulders as he finished tying up the lines, and I just thought it was a wonderful scene. I asked him if I could take his picture, and he said yes. (I also asked permission to share with LexObserver).

His name is Jacob Stavis. According to his LinkedIn profile, Jacob is a firefighter and paramedic with the Town of Lexington. He graduated Tufts University with a BS in Biology and Biological Sciences and a minor in Peace and Justice Studies.
