I just returned from the Katherine Clark talk at the high school. The room was packed with my fellow Democrats. I hope that Lexington’s Democratic Party leadership was reading the mood of the room.
Lexington Democrats are ANGRY. We do not want to link arms and sing “Kumbaya” with the Trump/Musk crowd on Patriot’s Day. I know that Lex250 was hoping for a kinder, gentler, politics-free celebration, but that’s just a pipe dream now.
We are facing an existential threat not only to our democracy, but to all democracies around the world. To live up to the legacy of the patriots who fought and died on the Battle Green 250 years ago, we have to take a stand—and that includes turning the Patriot’s Day celebration into a political statement about what our town stands for.

I absolutely agree! Indivisible is in the planning process and is organizing a demonstration in Concord on Patriots Day. Stay tuned and join us.
I couldn’t agree more with the letter writer. I was at the high school too, heard Rep. Clarke discuss what has been happening in DC.
I’ve also read James Carville’s “Play dead” strategy. I’m incensed that the Democrats seem focused on “what’s best for the party” at the expense of what’s best for the country.
We cannot simply stand around celebrating the usurpation of the king’s power, and the development of principles and institutions on which this country was founded while the current president literally portrays himself as a king, and the administration actively mocks those same principles (e.g., that “all men are created equal”) and destroys those same institutions.
I completely agree … and also think the nation’s celebrations next year should be a full national protest. At this point, we really have nothing to celebrate.
Yes. How can we collaborate? We need private property visible to parade crowds for signs. And people to hand out fliers with action steps (i.e. writing to friends in red and purple states to contact their DC officials; filing requests for info on who has violated our privacy in DC:
U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin is encouraging all U.S. citizens to join him this week in filing formal demands for access to their personal data obtained by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Elon Musk.

You can’t be serious.
From Zuby:
The people going around calling everybody ‘Nazis’ now were advocating forced medical procedures, mass censorship, discrimination, segregation, job termination, healthcare denial, making people show their papers everywhere, and even putting them in camps, just 3-4 years ago.
Never forget.
Perfect!
Sadly many Democrats want to take the joy out of everything and scold and insult people who don’t agree with their worldview.
Making a political protest out of a treasured, family-friendly event and very special anniversary, is a perfect example of why they were voted out of the White House.
