As a resident, I would like to thank all of the candidates who ran for Select Board and School Committee, and for putting their positions and opinions in front of the voters for consideration. Democracy has worked, and the residents sent a loud, clear message on election day. Joe Pato will return to the Select Board and Vineeta Kumar will join the Select Board. Larry Freeman and Eileen Jay will return to the School Committee and Sarah Carter will join the School Committee.

It is now time to turn the page, so that Joe, Vineeta, Larry, Eileen, Sarah and the rest of the Select Board and School Committee can get on with the work an overwhelming majority of Lexington residents voted for—the planning and implementation of the Bloom Design for the new high school.

  1. It is premature to consider Bloom a fait accompli. There are many residents who are still opposed to Bloom. The approach was wrong from the get go and it ruins our town fields. Residents who are opposed to Bloom should continue to speak up and promote alternative approaches.
