Dear Lexington residents,

I am deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me and I look forward to working together on the issues we discussed during the campaign. 

I want to start by thanking my fellow candidates. A contested race not only provides voters with choices in ideas and leadership, but it also brings out the best in each of us. In the end, we are all better for having gone on this journey together.

Such journeys are made possible by the support of the people around us, and I have so many to thank – my incredible parents, Shiva Shankar Thakur and Usha Thakur, who always believed in me and my sisters, even when society didn’t, and gave me the courage to follow my passions; my husband Ajay, my unwavering support, who stands by me like a rock; my son, Ishan, who thinks his mom is “cool” for making things happen; my sisters, Lucy and Monica, and my brother, Ashish, who inspire me to reach for the stars; my mother-in-law, Devaki -my second mother- who loves and supports me unconditionally; and, of course, my phenomenal campaign team, led by the extraordinary Christina Lin and Tanya Gisolfi-McCready. Christina, my best friend, is the heartbeat of everything good and has been an incredibly selfless, caring presence throughout, smoothly coordinating various activities. There are many others who I’m grateful to for their support and excitement throughout the campaign

This has been the experience of a lifetime. The best part being the opportunity to meet hundreds of people and learn about their hopes and concerns for our town. I have gained new perspectives that have enriched my understanding and enhanced my excitement to serve. These conversations have also reinforced my belief that although we may have different ideas, we all share deep care for Lexington, which will make it easier for us to work together on the challenges we face.

It is time to come together and move Lexington forward. With your continued support and the reminder that we are in this together, I am truly honored to have the opportunity to serve.
