Lexington, MA

Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.

I am a retired professor of Business and Management and a certified Instructor of Yoga, Meditation, Stress Management, and Resilient Youth Program.

As a tenured professor I taught Strategy and Management classes, served as an academic advisor, and performed duties as faculty advisor for student organizations.

Currently, I am working in the field of Mind Body Medicine and Lifestyle Management. I serve on the board of Indian Circle of Caring Inc., USA. As a director of the nonprofit organization, I assist the organization as it works to shape a collective future, build a strong community that is caring and courageous, and create hope, love and joy.

Why are you running for Town Meeting?

I would like to enhance the well-being of the community we call home by contributing my time and skills to local government, and that is why I am running for Town Meeting member.

I am committed to serving the community and serving the environment.

How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?

Following professional, community and personal life experiences would help me fulfill my responsibilities as a Town Meeting Member
– Lexington resident for 10+ years
– Ph.D. in Business and Management, Certified Instructor of Yoga, Meditation, Stress Management and Resilient Youth Program, Benson-Henry Institute of Mind Body Medicine, MGH
– Retired professor of Business and Management
– Currently working in the field of Mind Body Medicine & Lifestyle Management
– Director, Indian Circle of Caring USA Inc., a nonprofit community organization

How will you manage the diverse opinions of your constituents, particularly when they do not agree with your own?:

Collaboration is about working together, learning from each other, respecting each other, and growing together. How do we collaborate effectively when we encounter different opinions or perspectives? My professional and life experience has taught me some ways that work: prioritize active listening, open communication, seek understanding, and build consensus by considering various perspectives, even when they contradict your personal views; be transparent and actively engage with those holding dissenting opinions to address concerns and foster a sense of community (i.e. we are in this together).

What is the most important issue in this election to you personally, and what ideas do you have about how to address this issue?

I support Article 2 in the Special Town Meeting on March 17th. We need to be responsible as we implement MBTA Communities Act.

I support policies that are environmentally friendly, fiscally responsible, improve the quality of life of our elderly residents, and the education of our younger residents.

I would be honored and privileged to serve the residents of Precinct 3 as a Town Meeting Member and would take my responsibilities seriously. Please vote on Monday, March 3rd! Thank you for your consideration.
