Lexington Girl Scout Troop 83234 recently completed two Take Action Projects for their Outdoor Journey Award, working to make Lexington more sustainable.

One group, Compost Champions, promoted the town’s free curbside composting program, which many residents weren’t using. After meeting with the Sustainability & Resilience Officer, they mapped participation, identified outreach areas, and set up an informational booth next to their cookie sales outside Citizens Bank. They also presented at Fiske Elementary’s All-School Meeting, explaining the benefits of composting and encouraging families to sign up.

The second group, Keep Chiesa Clean, tackled litter—especially abandoned dog waste bags—at Chiesa Farm Conservation Land. After meeting with the Conservation Committee, they designed and installed friendly, encouraging signs reminding visitors to clean up after their pets. They wrapped up by presenting at Fiske, educating students on conservation and protecting local wildlife.

Through these projects, the Scouts demonstrated leadership and a commitment to a cleaner, greener Lexington.
