The following incidents were selected from the Lexington Police Department log during the week leading up to October 21. The Lexington Observer does not independently verify this information. 

Community Engagement

Monday, October 14 at 1:05 p.m., Lieutenant Dunbar, Officers Brady and Kenney attended the town’s Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebration event.

Saturday, October 19 at 8:00 pm., Lieutenant Dunbar attended a Diwali celebration at Cary Hall.

Directed Park, Lock, and Walk – Schools 

Officers visited 3 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 2 visits to the high school. During a visit to Fiske School, an officer reported monitoring the parking lot and school grounds, observing several children playing by the baseball field, and the officer made himself available to the staff and children to discuss any recent events.

Suspicious Activity

Monday, October 14 at 8:40 p.m., a Baskin Rd. resident reported a suspicious male came to his home and rang the front doorbell. This resident didn’t answer but thought it suspicious. The individual left after a few minutes. He got into the back seat of a dark-colored sedan and left. The responding officers checked the area but did not locate anyone.

Wednesday, October 16 at 12:15 a.m., an Emerson Gardens Rd. resident reported a suspicious motor vehicle had parked in front of her residence. The driver-side door was open. The responding officer spoke to the owner who stated she was unaware she had left the door open.

Sunday, October 20 at 7:40 a.m., a Waltham St. resident reported suspicious activity on her property overnight. This resident wanted to share a video of a young male who may have been connected to an incident on Waltham St. during this time. 

Disturbance

Thursday, October 17 at 7:15 p.m., a caller reported a group of teenage boys harassing people going in and out of the bathroom at Center Field. Responding officers spoke with people on the scene who stated all was quiet before the officer’s arrival. They were unable to locate the youths in the area.

Friday, October 18 at 7:45 p.m., the Lincoln PD called stating a male was reporting a fight on the football field at Minuteman Career and Technical High School. The incident involved 7-8 teenagers and 3 adults. Upon arrival, officers found the fight had broken up, and no weapons had been involved. The responding officers spoke with the principal who stated everyone had left the area since the incident occurred. Responding units remained at the field until all involved left.

Animal Control

Thanks for sharing the road with our 4-legged friends this week.

Unfortunately, there was 1 dead raccoon at Mass Ave. and Hunt Rd. and 1 dead deer at Bedford and Winter Sts. DPW was notified for their removal.

Wednesday, October 16 at 12:18 a.m., an individual reported he was homeless and could no longer take care of his cat. The responding officer transported the cat to the shelter. The incident was flagged for the ACO.

Thursday, October 17 at 12:55 a.m., a caller in Concord reported he had hit a deer by the Minuteman National Park in Lincoln. Lexington PD notified Lincoln PD, but they did not locate the deer. A Concord officer spoke with the Lincoln officer and reported they did not find an injured deer in the area either.

Saturday, October 19 at 7:40 p.m., a caller reported a loose dog walking in Lowell Street. It was placed at the kennel at 8:50 p.m. The ACO was notified by e-mail and water was supplied. A detective posted a picture of the white dog with spots on social media. There was no collar or tags. The dog’s owner was reunited with her dog at 10:30 p.m.

Larceny

Wednesday, October 16 at 5:00 p.m., a Magnolia Lane resident reported a FedEx package containing a new iPhone 16 was dropped off at approximately 1:40 p.m. When this resident arrived home at approximately 3:30, the package was missing. The responding officer checked the neighborhood, but no camera footage was located in the area

Friday, October 18 at 5:05 p.m., an Anchorage, AK resident visiting Lexington with her mother reported a stolen wallet. She stated they left their bags at the Element Hotel when they went into town, and her mother left her fanny pack in the bathroom. When they returned, the fanny pack was in the trash and the wallet was missing.

Fraud

Monday, October 14 at 3:00 p.m., a Barberry Rd. resident reported he received an e-mail stating that information on his computer had been hacked after visiting a “porn” website. The e-mail instructed him to deposit $1,950 into a Bitcoin wallet. He did not pay the amount, but he wanted to report this as he was concerned this individual was “targeting elderly residents.” 

Tuesday, October 15 at 2:26 p.m., a Wachusett Circle resident reported several attempts to open credit cards in her name. They were unsuccessful. There has been no monetary loss, but she’s working with her bank and FTC. to manage this situation.

Wednesday, October 16 at 4:10 p.m., a Grove St. resident reported he noticed some outgoing mail he had put in his mailbox was missing before the postal worker typically arrived at his residence.

Thursday, October 17 at 6:50 a.m., a Downing Rd. resident reported an online scam. The responding officer spoke with her, and this resident stated she had “met” this individual through a messenger app. She was instructed to transfer funds using crypto apps from her DCU credit account. She does not know the person and has never met him. She made 9 wire transfers to Trust, crypto.com, Swan, and Kraken. Her monetary loss was $1,641,888.00. A detective assisted with her initial report.

Thursday, October 17 at 10:35 a.m., the director of New Covenant School reported an individual changed the banking information for one staff member. The unknown person has been receiving payments instead of the teacher. She is currently out $3174.28 and is actively working with her bank to resolve this incident.

Thursday, October 17 at 3:30 p.m., a Hancock St. resident reported an unknown individual attempted to open credit lines using her information. She reported no monetary loss and had frozen her accounts. Citizens Bank advised her to report the incident to the PD, request a flag on her accounts, and contact this officer if she sees any new, unusual activity.
