POP Club – New this year at the Lexington Farmers Market
This year, the Lexington Farmers Market opted to participate in a nationwide program called the Power of Produce Club, or POP Club (more information available at https://farmersmarketcoalition.org/programs/power-of-produce-pop/). This program aims to give children an opportunity to interact directly with farmers, try new kinds of produce, and learn financial skills. The Market hopes that the program will bring new customers to the weekly Tuesday market. As of July 31, there are 75 children participating.
The program is open to children who are 5-12 years old. There is no cost to join. Register your child at the farm manager’s tent when you arrive at the market. Each week your child will receive two POP bucks which he or she can spend on any produce item from participating farmers. The bucks can also be saved up across weeks. POP Club also includes fun activities such as games and puzzles.
POP Club will run through the end of the 2024 summer season: October 29. The Lexington Farmers Market is open every Tuesday from 2 pm to 6:30 pm and is located at the Worthen Rd Practice Field. POP Club is being funded by the Lexington Farmers Market.
