The following are incidents selected from the Lexington Police Department logs during the week before June 17, 2024. This information has not been independently verified by LexObserver.
Arrests
Tuesday, June 11 at 10:15 a.m., a Lexington resident was arrested and processed as a courtesy booking.
Wednesday, June 12 at 9.00 p.m., a Lexington resident was arrested on an outside warrant. This occurs when a person is admitted to jail based on a felony warrant from a different jurisdiction.
Community Engagement
Tuesday, June 11 at 8:30 a.m., Detective Chaisson, Detective Sullivan, and K9 Maisey gave a Crescent Hill Ave. resident a ride to school. Her parents won this ride in Harrington School’s raffle. The winner and a friend were driven to school where they were greeted by staff and their classmates.
Tuesday, June 11 at 7:15 p.m., School Resource Officer Sullivan and Officer Snell attended a school committee meeting where police presence had been requested.
Directed Park, Lock, and Walk
A total of 6 DPLW school visits occurred this week: 4 at elementary schools and 2 at the high school. During each visit, there was interaction with students, faculty, and staff as officers familiarized themselves with each school’s layout. All was in order this week.
Suspicious Activity
Thursday, June 13 at 11:30 a.m., a caller reported several males got into one vehicle with one in the trunk. Officers were dispatched to the area and located the vehicle, which was occupied and parked on Park Dr. The responding officer went to Lexington High School’s main office and spoke with the driver and the male who rode in the trunk. They stated they were driving around without any specific destination. The officer spoke with these two regarding passengers in motor vehicles and the dangers of riding in a trunk. This officer informed the driver’s father of the incident. The officer attempted to speak with other individuals but they were not in their assigned classes.
Saturday, June 15 at 4:05 p.m., a call came in reporting a suspicious bag left at Peet’s Coffee and Tea since 11:00 a.m. The responding officer reported the item belonged to a teenage boy, but there were no identifiable items. The bag was tagged and put in the CO’s office until claimed at 6:10 p.m.
Disturbance and General Noise Complaint
Tuesday, June 11 at 8:10 p.m., the manager at the Element Hotel reported an individual causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the premises. He had locked himself in his room with his wife. The responding officer reported the individual gathered his belongings and left without incident. The manager issued a verbal No Trespass, and he will follow up with a formal No Trespass order.
Wednesday, June 12 at 1:10 a.m., a Bow Street resident reported a homeowner on Melrose Ave. was working on his car and making excessive noise. The responding officer spoke to this person and advised him of the noise complaint. He stated he was done with the power tools for the night.
Wednesday, June 12 at 4:45 p.m., a Main Campus Dr. resident reported her neighbor’s children were always screaming. This ongoing problem has been reported to management multiple times. The responding officer spoke with the caller who had audio recordings on her phone of the sound of average children playing. The officer spoke with the children’s mother and advised her of the noise complaint. The children appeared in good health, and the mother agreed to do “her best to try to keep her children quieter.”
Thursday, June 13 at 10:35 p.m., a Lillian Rd. resident stated work was being done across the street from his home and the generator kept going on and off. He said it was loud and sounded like a lawnmower. The responding officer reported it was an air compressor the construction crew left on. Once unplugged, the officer spoke with the reporting party who was satisfied.
Sunday, June 16 at 11:15 p.m., a Mass Ave. resident reported noisy people and loud music playing. The responding officer advised them of the complaint.
Lexington Town Bylaws – Chapter 80 Noise Control
“The Town of Lexington finds that excessive or unwarranted noise jeopardizes the health, safety, and welfare and degrades the quality of life of its residents.”
Town Bylaws: Noise There were 3 reports from neighbors regarding construction and landscaping work outside the allowed hours. Seasonal Bylaws: Leaf Blowers: There were 4 reports from neighbors regarding the use of gas leaf blowers.
*Residents are responsible for what occurs on their property and can be fined for each infraction. Be a good neighbor and ask workers to follow Lexington’s bylaws.
Animal Control
Tuesday, June 11 at 6:20 p.m., a caller stated he had found an injured dog with no collar at the intersection of Follen Road and Pleasant St. He described the dog as short, black and white, without a collar. This Good Samaritan volunteered to take the dog to a vet for a wound on its back. On Wednesday, June 12, the MSPCA in Jamaica Plain called for Lexington Police to retrieve the dog. Our Animal Control Officer, on vacation, went to the animal shelter to check for messages about a lost dog. He connected the caller’s address to the proximity of the incident and informed the owner of the dog’s location. The owner and her dog were reunited.
Wednesday, June 12 at 9:30 a.m., a Moreland Ave. resident called to report a turkey had broken through her window and was running around inside her home. The responding officer was able to remove the turkey and advised the resident to call homeowners insurance for the damages.
Thursday, June 13 at 12:20 p.m., the Lexington Fire Department reported two loose dogs near Bedford and Revere Streets. The responding officer reported them gone upon arrival.
Sunday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m., a Rindge Ave. resident reported a loose Husky walking around his property. The responding officer reported it gone upon arrival.

Larceny
Thursday, June 13 at 10:20 a.m., an employee of Crafty Yankee reported the shoplifting of a stuffed animal valued at $45.00. The responding officer reported the theft had occurred the day before.
Friday, June 14 at 10:25 a.m., a resident of Youville Place on Pelham Road reported the theft of her purse. It contained $1800 in cash. The responding officer spoke to the caller and the manager then viewed video footage. The caller believed the theft occurred over the past two to three days.
Fraud
Wednesday, June 12 at 2:55 p.m., a Kendall Rd. resident came in to report several attempts to open credit card accounts under her husband’s name. Experian notified them of these attempts, and there was no monetary loss. She was advised to report these incidents to credit bureaus and to monitor her bank accounts.
Wednesday, June 12 at 4:30 p.m., A Bartlett Ave. resident called regarding a suspicious text he received. He stated he had been scammed out of $200.00 in gift cards 3 weeks ago, and the same person texted him looking for money. This resident initially contacted the FBI who told him to contact the Federal Trade Commission who instructed him to report the incident to LPD.
