Precinct: 2

Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.

My wife, Deeba, and I relocated to Lexington from Cambridge in 2005 with our two young children, Alia and Asrah. Since then, each day has been a source of joy. Our children have thrived in the nurturing environment of the Lexington Public School System.

In terms of community involvement, I have had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles:
– Director (Volunteer): www.visionaid.org is dedicated to empowering the visually impaired for independent and dignified living.
– President (Volunteer): www.omane.us, serving my School Alumni Association.
– President: Resolv Education & Training programs, an initiative providing assistance, mentorship, and guidance to underprivileged & needy students.

Bringing over 33 years of experience in business and non-profits, I am a seasoned entrepreneur deeply passionate about education, social equity, affordable housing, and diversity. Currently, in my third term as a Town Meeting Member from Precinct 2, I am excited to offer myself for the fourth term. Beyond professional pursuits with an MBA, I am family-oriented and committed to community service, with the aim of contributing meaningfully to our town’s well-being. Helping others brings me immense joy.

How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?

In my journey as a community leader and business professional, I have acquired invaluable experience that has helped me in my role as a Town Meeting Member too. With over three decades as an entrepreneur, my understanding of business dynamics and non-profit initiatives has honed my strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Passionate about education, social equity, affordable housing, and diversity, I bring a comprehensive perspective to address the multifaceted challenges we face as a vibrant community. Currently in my third term as a Town Meeting Member from Precinct 2, I’ve gained firsthand knowledge of our town’s intricacies, allowing me to effectively represent our precinct’s concerns.

My life’s mantra centers around the simple idea of giving back to the community that has given me so much. It’s a commitment close to my heart, and I’m eager to live by it. I believe in creating a friendly environment where everyone actively contributes to the governance, growth, and happiness of our town. I seek your support and vote to continue serving the town.
