Michael Schanbacher is an experienced leader both civically and professionally. Having been on Town Meeting for nine years and serving a term on the planning board, he has the experience to continue his work on Town Meeting. He is also a registered architect with 20 years of professional experience.
During his career he has designed a variety of buildings from public libraries to mixed used development. He has worked with developers as they navigated complicated zoning requirements while listening to questions and comments from residents in abutting neighborhoods. His work on public institutional projects has also provided him with a background in balancing the differing opinions of multiple stakeholders and reaching consensus.
He has worked at multiple architecture and landscape architecture firms, winning multiple design awards for his work.
Michael has two children nine and twelve, currently enrolled in the Lexington Public School system. His parents were both public school teachers and he has always been an advocate for the public school system.
