• Precinct: 9

Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.

I’ve been a resident of Lexington since 2011, and my husband and I have two children in the Lexington Public Schools. I became a Town Meeting member in 2021, and I’m running for re-election now because I enjoy giving back to our community and working to make a difference on the issues that matter to me – protecting our environment, ensuring Lexington has strong schools, preserving our democracy, and creating and sustaining a welcoming and inclusive community.

How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?

I’m a Town Meeting member for Precinct 9 and a member of the Cary Library Foundation Board. I’m past co-chair of and current volunteer for the Community Endowment of Lexington. Additionally, I previously served on the Site-Based Councils for both Bridge Elementary School and Clarke Middle School, on the Board of LexFarm, and as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. My professional background is in nonprofit management, where I spent more than thirty years working for and volunteering with mission-driven organizations.

If there is anything else you would like to share with the town about you and your candidacy, please share here:

I’m struck, now more than ever, how the world seems fractured and disconnected, how people seem to turn away from open and respectful dialogue and a willingness to hear to opposing viewpoints. For me, Lexington’s Town Meeting, however, is different. The people elected to represent this community come to each session with a desire to ask questions, listen, speak up, and carefully weigh fact and opinion, all in order to make thoughtful decisions that will benefit Lexington for years to come. It’s been an honor to represent Precinct 9 these past three years at Town Meeting, and I hope that I can continue to serve into a new term. Thank you.
