Precinct: 9
Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.
I’m trained as an engineer and worked many years in the semiconductor industry. My wife and I raised our children in Lexington. I was heavily involved in the youth soccer program in Lexington, and I still play and referee soccer. I’m also passionate about cycling, both as a form of recreation and as transportation.
How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?
I’m seeking my third term as a Town Meeting member. I enjoy working with fellow residents to help shape the articles that are brought to Town Meeting. I’ve taken a particular interest in housing issues, and am a founding member of the Lexington Cluster Housing Study Group. Also, because of my experience as a leader in the Lexington United Soccer Club, I’m familiar with many of the recreation issues in Town.
What is the most important issue in this election to you personally, and what ideas do you have about how to address this issue?
The most important issue to me in this election is to continue pushing to address the lack of housing in the Boston area. We made important zoning reforms in 2023 and it remains to see how those play out. I would like to see it made easier to create accessory dwelling units, as these provide a natural form of growth that can address intergenerational housing needs.
In the lead up to the vote in 2023 on Article 34 (MBTA Communities zoning), I collaborated with Town Meeting members who advocated for a more gradual approach to zoning. We successfully hashed out an amendment that we could all live with (it was eventually defeated by Town Meeting).
