Voices on the Green

Voices on the Green, a live storytelling and music series now in its fifth season, seeks storytellers for its next show to be performed on Friday, May 5, at First Parish in Lexington.

The theme of this show is “I Was There.” We are looking for your personal stories of being an eyewitness to history.  If an historic or family event, disaster, court decision or legislation left a lasting impact on you, you may have a story to tell.

Did desegregation of Boston Public Schools change your life? Were you a teacher, airline worker, or immigrant shaken by the events on Sept. 11, 2001? Were you a runner or first responder at the Boston Marathon bombing? Were you in the path of a hurricane–or involved in rescue efforts following it? Did you triumph over a difficult upbringing, illness or trauma? These are but a few examples of hundreds of events which may be the spark of your story.

Stories have the power to bring us together. Recent performances have averaged nearly 200 people and yet both the storytellers and the audience report a heartfelt sense of connectivity and shared intimacy.

If you think you have a story to share, please contact us at voicesonthegreen@fplex.org by Monday, March 13.

We look forward to hearing from you, and seeing you at the next show!
