Jill Hai, Chair, and other members of the Special Permit Residential Development Ad hoc Zoning Committee (SPRD) will present their recommendations for SPRD zoning, intended to encourage building smaller, more sustainable and affordable homes throughout Lexington. The committee proposes two changes: an amended Site Sensitive Development model and a new Compact Neighborhood Development model, both developed with input from local builders, residents and other stakeholders. The panel will explain the differences between these zoning proposals and the MBTA Multi-family Zoning proposal presented in January by the Planning Board and staff. They will also emphasize the need for both initiatives if we are to meet Lexington’s housing goals set out in our recent Comprehensive Plan, LexingtonNext.
