Kent J. Riley Charitable Fund Logo

One of the many legacies left by the late Kent J. Riley is the creation of a fund designed to support local college-bound athletes and area hospice organizations.

Kent was a tireless supporter of Lexington and Bedford youth sports and when not on duty as a medical physicist at Massachusetts General Hospital, he could often be found coaching his children’s hockey teams. Following his much too early passing in June 2014, his family and friends established the Kent J. Riley Charitable Fund (a federally-recognized 501(c)(3) organization) in his honor.

Since 2015 the Fund has awarded over $113,000 to Lexington and Bedford students who participated in youth sports and planned to major in a STEM or health related field of study. The Fund also provides financial assistance to local hospice organizations, so that they may continue their incredibly important (and often underfunded) work. Both avenues of giving support Kent’s desire to improve the lives of others in the community he loved. Scholarship criteria and instructions can be found at kjrfund.org and are due by April 3, 2023.
