In the years before the Civil War, Theodore Parker was one of the most famous and controversial figures of the day, challenging how people thought about religion and democracy. Later, his writings inspired leaders from Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. to Barack Obama.
Join us for an evening with Dean Grodzins, author of American Heretic: Theodore Parker and Transcendentalism, and learn how Parker influenced American thought and what lessons his life and career provide for our own troubled times.
