Sounds of the 1700s with Lexington Strings

A concert for the semiquincentennial celebration of the Battle of Lexington

Lexington Strings will present a recital of music contemporary to the April 19, 1775 skirmish on the Lexington Battle Green.

The concert program includes:

• Antonio Vivaldi:  Concerto in G major for Solo Violin, Strings and Continuo, Op. 3 “L’Estro Armonico”, No. 3, RV 310 (1711)

• Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:  Violin Concerto No. 4 in D major, K. 218 (1775)

• Ludwig van Beethoven:  Sonata No. 3 in Eb major for Violin and Piano, Op. 12, No. 3 (1797-1798)

• Johann Sebastian Bach:  Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G major for Violin, Two Recorders, Strings and Continuo, BWV 1049 (1721)

Based in Lexington, Massachusetts since 1984, Lexington Strings are musicians Letitia Hom, Yukiko Ueno Egozy, Michael Valdez and Vida Baterina Hom.

Ms. Hom plays a violin originally commissioned by and made for Roman Totenberg in 1982.  Created by luthier Guy Rabut in New York City, the violin is patterned after Mr. Totenberg’s 1736 Giuseppe “del Gesù” Guarneri violin made in Cremona, Italy.
