Silent Spring Summer Institute

Silent Spring Institute, a scientific research organization based in Newton, Massachusetts, and one of the nation’s leading authorities on environmental risk factors for cancer and other diseases, is excited to offer the Silent Spring Summer Institute, now in its second year. This free virtual program is designed for high school students interested in learning about environmental health or considering a degree or career in STEM.
Program Dates: July 6 to 10, 2026 (daily, from 4:00 – 5:30 PM ET)
Location: Online through Zoom
Registration for the program closes on June 5, 2026.
Students will learn how our everyday environments—the water we drink, the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the products we use—shape our health and well-being and how science can advance solutions to reduce disease risk and create healthier communities.
The program is open to high school students, grades 9 – 12 (middle school students aged 13 and up are also welcome) and participants will receive a certificate upon completion.
