Menopause 101: Symptoms, Hormone Therapy, and What to Expect

**This program will take place at the Community Center, 39 Marrett Road, Lexington
In this interactive workshop, we will explore the most common symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, what is happening in the body during this transition, and what options are available for support, including hormone therapy.
Led by a menopause-certified nurse practitioner, this session will provide clear, evidence-based guidance to help you better understand your body and feel more confident navigating this stage of life.
You will learn:
• Common signs and symptoms of perimenopause and menopause
• What changes are expected and when to seek support
• Hormone therapy options, including benefits, risks, and common misconceptions
• How to think about your next steps based on your individual needs
Attendance is on a first-come basis. Registering allows us to plan for headcount and keep you updated in case of any changes.
Speaker bio:
Laura Brown, WHNP-BC, MSCP
Laura is a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and one of only 4,100 clinicians nationwide certified by The Menopause Society as a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP). She is also a Certified Coach through Koach Training, uniquely blending clinical expertise with coaching tools to support women through midlife transitions. After early experience in Internal Medicine and OBGYN, Laura founded Sapphire Women’s Healthcare in 2024, dedicated to evidence-based, compassionate midlife care.
This program is part of the new Women’s Health & Wellness Series at Cary Library, a community education series designed to provide women with evidence-based guidance on navigating changes in their health and wellbeing. Through workshops and discussions with local experts, the series explores topics such as nutrition, strength training and exercise, stress and sleep, hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause, and practical strategies to support long-term health.
