LexSeeHer Presents “Spinning HERstory” – A Celebration of 250 Years of Women, Girls, and Fiber Arts

LEXINGTON – Step back in time and celebrate 250 years of bold women, girls, and fiber arts at LexSeeHer’s “Spinning HERstory” on Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lexington Women’s Monument in front of the Visitor’s Center (1875 Massachusetts Ave). This fun, family-friendly event offers history, music, crafts, food, and hands-on activities for all ages.

Travel to 1769 during the historic re-enactment of Anna Harrington’s Spinning Protest, where women’s fiber arts became a powerful form of resistance. Following the re-enactment, the community will celebrate the 2025 Visibility Banner Honorees, honoring women whose leadership and courage continue to inspire Lexington today.

Young visitors can enjoy colonial games like hoop rolling, graces, jack straws, and cup-and-ball—plus corn hole with real corn. The craft area lets children make friendship bracelets, bead jewelry, cup-and-ball toys, and historical coloring pages. For extra fun, try life-size Scrabble, giant tic-tac-toe, and visit the sheep petting zoo for a hands-on colonial experience!

The LexSeeHer Marketplace features blanket-making demonstrations, knit-ins, crochet-ins, vendors, and LexSeeHer merchandise. Food trucks will be on site, including Golden Grillz BBQ with their famous creamy mac & cheese and the beloved Mo’s Ice Cream Truck for sweet treats.

“Spinning HERstory” connects directly to the Revolutionary period, bringing history to life while giving families a playful and educational glimpse into 18th-century Lexington.
