Lexington Center Diwali Celebration

October 15, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

Diwali is a Hindu festival of lights with its variations also celebrated in other Indian religions. It symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance”.

During Diwali, people illuminate their homes, shops, temples, and workspaces with diyas (oil lamps), candles, and lanterns. Diwali marks a major shopping festival in India and is comparable to the Christmas period in terms of consumer purchases and economic activity. It is traditionally a time when families purchase new clothing, home goods, gifts, gold, jewelry, and other large purchases particularly as the festival is dedicated to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, and such purchases are considered auspicious.

This year, Lexington Together, the Lexington Economic Development Office, the Indian Association of Lexington, Spaulding Management LLC, Clay Oven and the Lexington Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Diwali “Festival of Lights” Celebration to support retailers and restaurants in Lexington. Please join the celebrations on Wednesday, October 15th,  between 5 and 9 pm by taking a stroll of the shops in the Center to look at the decorations and a photo booth at 1666 Mass Ave for a special Diwali selfie.

Join us for a fun filled time of games, crafts, music, and a buffet dinner at Clay Oven Restaurant (Reserve your dinner spot at https://clayovenlexington.com. Click on Events!)
