Cantemus Chamber Chorus Presents “Annelies,” Based on Anne Frank’s Diary

January 20, 2024 @ 7:30 pm - January 21, 2024 @ 4:00 pm EST
$25

Lexington High School’s Director of Choruses, Jason Iannuzzi, will conduct the Cantemus Chamber Chorus — including two Lexington High School students — in performances of “Annelies,” whose first full high school performance took place at LHS in 2016. The choral-orchestral work is based on “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl.” Performances will be at St. Paul’s Church in Newburyport on January 20 at 7:30 pm, and at Congregation Shirat Hayam in Swampscott on January 21 at 4:00 pm

James Whitbourn’s work tells the harrowing story of the Frank family and the four others hiding from the Nazis in a ‘secret annex’ in Amsterdam, told in movements that range from chilling and haunting, to humorous and lyrical. Renowned soprano Lynn Eustis, who sang the role of Anne in the work’s U.S. premiere in 2007 and the LHS performance in 2016, will be joined by guest artists on piano, violin, cello, and clarinet.
