Building The World As It Should Be: An Invitation to Interfaith Organizing

In this difficult time of division and hostilities, a group of leaders from the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization Core Teams of Hancock Church, Beth El Temple Center, Temple Isaiah and Temple Emunah has been meeting to build connection and engagement within and between our congregations. We invite you to join this effort and learn about what we have learned and what we plan as part of our work with the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO). 

The September 10 event will begin with a panel of clergy from our congregations and we will learn about their experiences and religious values that call them to the work of social justice. Then two members of our local team will articulate how GBIO has impacted and inspired them. These reflections will set the stage for a brief explanation of how our community organizing is different from other forms of social justice work. Next, there will be a short training and demonstration on holding a “relational meeting.” Participants will spend time sharing and learning what motivates each of us to take action. Together, we’ll begin building stronger connections within and across our congregations that we can put to work in the service of our common good.
