After I’m Gone: In-Person Workshops

We invite you as a resident or whose loved one is a resident of Lexington to attend a 4-Session workshop series to support you in planning for the future. This workshop series is focused on older caregivers who have adult family members with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism. Employees of the town are also welcome to apply.

The workshop covers:

  • Overview of future planning
  • Importance of acting so your loved one, you and others are prepared for future realities
  • Keeping the adult with the disability in the center and advancing his/her decision-making role
  • Steps to help you identify and support your successor(s) as the coach or caregiver
  • Establishing a support network
  • Reviewing the future planning guide
  • Basic overview of residential options and other services

The series will be held on Tuesday, October 20th and 27th, and November 3rd and 10th from 4:30 to 6pm.   Registration is first-come, first-served and will be capped at 25 individuals.
