I enthusiastically endorse Mona Roy for Lexington School Committee. I have known Mona for decades and have worked closely with her on multiple efforts to make Lexington a better place for all peoples. She was an important part of the coalition to highlight and address the disparity in discipline of Lexington’s Black students and students with special needs.
When I served as Chair of the Human Rights Committee, Mona was our Clerk. From the beginning, she distinguished herself as responsible, thoughtful, insightful, and deeply committed to the work. As I watched her leadership grow, I encouraged her to succeed me as Chair — a role she stepped into admirably.
After completing her service on the Human Rights Committee, Mona has never stopped working to strengthen Lexington. In every role she takes on — formal or informal — her actions are guided by her values — equity and inclusion.
I am excited to see Mona bring her principled leadership to the School Committee. I also appreciate that, like me, she is an engineer by training. That analytical background brings rigor, systems thinking, and a problem-solving mindset that will be invaluable as the district navigates complex educational and fiscal challenges.
Mona consistently advocates for children and families. Lexington would be well served by her integrity, experience, and steady leadership.
I strongly urge the community to support Mona Roy for School Committee.
Sincerely,
Sean Osborne
