Lexington, MA

Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.

I grew up in Lexington and attended Lexington Public Schools (K-12), before getting a BA at Wheaton College and an MBA at UMass.

I have 3 children, two in 2nd & 3rd grade at Fiske, where I serve on the PTO Advisory Board and one at Concord Academy, where I give tours to prospective families.

In my free time I dance, travel and do fundraising work for a school I used to work at in Tanzania.

Why are you running for Town Meeting?

I am running for Town Meeting because I care deeply about Lexington’s future and want to help ensure thoughtful, responsible decision-making for our town. As a lifelong Lexington resident and parent of three children in our schools, I understand the urgent need for a new high school.

Additionally, Lexington must reexamine the MBTA housing plan to ensure we meet state requirements without exceeding them, preserving the character of our town while addressing housing needs. I support passing Article 2.

I also want to see our historic town center thrive, supporting local businesses and maintaining the vibrancy that makes Lexington special. With its rich history and strong community, Lexington deserves leadership that prioritizes smart growth and responsible planning. I would be honored to serve and advocate for these priorities at Town Meeting.

How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?

My experience as a Lexington parent, community volunteer, and professional with a background in business and education has given me the skills and perspective needed for Town Meeting.

As a PTO Advisory Board member at Fiske Elementary, I collaborate with parents and school leaders to support initiatives that benefit students and teachers. At Concord Academy, I engage with families and provide insight into the school community, strengthening my ability to communicate effectively and advocate for educational priorities.

I have been a strong advocate and host family for the METCO program for many years, both growing up in Lexington and now with my own children. This experience has reinforced my commitment to educational equity and fostering a welcoming, inclusive community.

Beyond Lexington, my fundraising work for a school in Tanzania has reinforced my commitment to equity and smart resource allocation. My MBA from UMass equips me with financial and analytical skills to assess budgets and policies with a strategic mindset.

Having grown up in Lexington, I deeply understand the town’s history and values. I am ready to bring my experience, passion, and problem-solving approach to Town Meeting to help guide Lexington’s future.

What is the most important issue in this election to you personally, and what ideas do you have about how to address this issue?

One of the most important issues in this election is the urgent need for a new Lexington High School. Our current facility is outdated, overcrowded, and does not adequately support the needs of students and teachers. Passing the debt override this Fall is critical to moving forward with this much-needed project, ensuring that Lexington continues to provide a top-tier education in a safe, modern, and well-equipped environment.

To address this, I will advocate for transparent communication with the community, making sure that residents understand the benefits, costs, and long-term impact of the project. It is essential to balance fiscal responsibility with our commitment to education, and I will work to ensure that funding plans are well-structured and equitable.

Additionally, I believe we must reexamine the MBTA housing plan to meet state requirements while carefully considering its impact on Lexington’s infrastructure, schools, and resources. Thoughtful planning is key to maintaining the character of our town while addressing housing needs.

I am also committed to supporting a thriving town center, preserving Lexington’s rich history while fostering a vibrant local economy. This means investing in infrastructure, supporting small businesses, and ensuring that Lexington remains a great place to live, work, and visit.

I am ready to bring a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to these critical issues and help guide Lexington toward a strong future.

How will you manage the diverse opinions of your constituents, particularly when they do not agree with your own?:

I believe that listening, open communication, and respect are the foundations of effective collaboration and negotiation. Lexington is a diverse community with a wide range of perspectives, and Town Meeting works best when all voices are heard.

When constituents have opinions that differ from my own, my priority will be to listen carefully, seek common ground, and focus on shared goals. I will engage in thoughtful discussions, ask questions to understand concerns, and ensure that all viewpoints are considered before making decisions.

I am committed to making informed, balanced decisions that reflect the best interests of Lexington while fostering constructive dialogue among all stakeholders.
