The following incidents were selected from the Lexington Police Department log during the week leading up to December 2. The Lexington Observer does not independently verify this information.
Arrest
Saturday, November 30 at 9:30 p.m., while conducting traffic enforcement at Marrett Rd. and Airport Rd., an officer observed a Watertown resident stopping in the middle of the road multiple times for no apparent reason. After several attempts to direct her to the roadside, the driver finally responded to the lights and sirens used. When the officer approached the vehicle, he observed a child not secured properly in a car seat. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol. An officer followed LFD to Winchester Hospital where the daughter was taken for a medical evaluation. DCF was notified and responded to LPD and Winchester Hospital. They took the child into their custody for a 51A. This Watertown resident was placed under arrest and taken into custody for (1) operating a motor vehicle under the influence (second offense), (2) child endangerment while OU I (3) negligent operation of a motor vehicle (4) marked lanes violations, and (5) failing to stop for police.
Park, Lock, and Walk – Schools
During this past holiday week, officers made 3 visits to elementary schools, 1 visit to a middle school, and 1 to the high school. *During a visit to Fiske Elementary School, an officer observed recess and spoke with students and staff.
Suspicious Activity
Friday, November 29 at 9:05 a.m., a Marrett Rd. resident reported a suspicious female in her driveway taking pictures of her house.
Sunday, December 1 at 3:35 p.m., a Fletcher Ave. resident reported her daughter had been walking her dog and felt like a man was following and recording her. This resident described the individual as someone who was later located near the center. He said he did speak with a girl who was walking her dog. He explained he was playing Pokémon Go, a game where you take pictures of Pokémon you find around town. He voluntarily showed the officer his camera.
Noise Complaints and Town Bylaws
Monday, November 25 at 11:50 p.m., a Lexington Ridge Dr. resident reported loud music. Responding officers advised a neighbor to turn down her music.
Tuesday, November 26 at 6:55 a.m., a Springdale Rd. resident reported landscapers working before 7:00 a.m. Responding officers advised J&R Landscaping of the town bylaws regarding work before seven.
Sunday, November 30 at 7:35 a.m., a Mill Brook Rd. resident complained about construction work beginning before 9:00 a.m. The responding officer did not hear noise from the location upon his arrival. He spoke with contractors from Flores Carpentry who were painting inside the house. The officer determined that no violation was occurring.
Fraud
Tuesday, November 26 at 1:55 p.m., a Lincoln St. resident reported a monetary loss of $10,000. She fell for a scam in a pop-up window on her computer. She called the number on the screen and spent $10,000 on bogus gift cards.
Sunday, November 30 at 11:15 a.m., a Hathaway Rd. resident reported his Cambridge Trust checking account had been compromised, and a fraudulent check had been cashed against it. The check was made payable to Michael Dean Robinson for $29,500. This resident notified his bank who opened an investigation and reimbursed his loss.
Sunday, November 30 at 1:40 p.m., a Summer St. resident reported identity theft of personal information. He stated there was no monetary loss. An officer advised him to contact his bank.
