On Saturday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m., Maxima Book Center in Lexington will be hosting Lexington author Jane Sutton’s launch of her new children’s picture book, GRACIE BRINGS BACK BUBBE’S SMILE. Published by Albert Whitman, with vibrant illustrations by Debby Rahmalia, the story starts out sad, with Bubbe mourning the loss of her husband (Zayde) and not ready to do the usual things she and Gracie enjoy. When Gracie, who misses Zayde too, comes up with the idea of Bubbe teaching her some Yiddish words, Bubbe starts to emerge from her grief, and the loving pair shares joy and even laughter.

Kirkus Reviews called the book “A tender reminder that family and culture can buoy us after loss.”
