Lexington High School is commonly known for its high-achieving educational standard, but academics aren’t the only thing LHS excels at. In recent years, both the boys’ and girls’ track and field programs have soared to new heights, securing repeated league championship wins and numerous MIAA Division 1 titles. This profound success is not limited to statewide competition. Lexington High School Track and Field has continued to qualify its top athletes for New Balance Nationals, sending relays as well as individual competitors in throwing, jumping, sprinting, hurdling, and distance events. The multiple All-American titles earned by this team are a testament to the program’s ability to foster incredible talent found right here in our local high school. This year, LHS has qualified a total of 27 athletes (19 girls and 8 boys) competing across 20 different events, and hopes to compete for All-American titles in a number of events.

The continued success of this program cannot be attributed solely to the driven, hardworking athletes and experienced coaching staff. The unsung heroes of the operation are the members of Boosters of Lexington Track-XC (BOLT-XC), a team of dedicated parents who ensure that local high schoolers have the resources to pursue success at the statewide, regional, and national levels. BOLT-XC also helps organize cherished community events such as the Lexington Legacy 5K and Lexington’s 5th Grade Track & Field Meet, ensuring they are both successful and enjoyable for all. These events are key to the high school team’s proud history—one that wouldn’t be possible without the community’s support.

In the upcoming outdoor season, LHS will host six meets, including a large-school invitational competition. Come support Lexington High School Track and Field this spring to not only witness, but also be a part of the team’s historic and ongoing tradition of excellence.
