Lexington, MA

Tell us a little about yourself. You can include your personal background, family, outside interests that are important to who you are as a person and a candidate.

I have a background in engineering and academic research, and my family and I have lived in Lexington for over 10 years.

Why are you running for Town Meeting?

Ever since I was elected to Town Meeting nine years ago, I have been working hard to address important issues facing the town, with a personal emphasis on housing and zoning policymaking through a data-driven and systems analysis approach. I am seeking another three-year term as a Town Meeting Member so that I may continue to listen to my constituents, analyze the needs and challenges of the town, and then turn that understanding into action that creates real change that improves the lives of Lexingtonians.

How has your past experience — whether in your professional life, elected office, or as a community leader — prepared you for a role in Town Meeting?

The following are a few brief highlights from my past nine years of service to the Town: I was the author and proponent of 11 bylaw change initiatives and funding appropriations which were adopted by Town Meeting, and one those initiatives led to the creation of a new town committee. I also served for five years on the Town’s Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, co-leading the housing working group, and served for three years on the Special Permit Residential Development Bylaw Amendment Committee. Lastly, I authored a proposal for special legislation that would create a novel affordable housing funding mechanism that applies only to Lexington, which was signed into state law by Governor Healey in December after over three years of work, testimony, and advocacy.
