Diwali is a celebration of light over darkness, the triumph of good over evil, and the importance of community and prosperity. Traditionally, this is marked by shopping, as new purchases of clothing, jewelry, and home goods are considered auspicious and a way to invite wealth and good fortune into one’s life. Supporting local businesses during this festive season is a modern way to celebrate Lakshmi’s blessings. This year, Lexington is proud to recognize Diwali as an official school holiday for the first time, reflecting the growing appreciation of this important festival. It’s a perfect moment for the community to come together, not only to celebrate the festival’s spiritual significance but also to #ShopLocal, supporting the many businesses that make Lexington thrive. After IAL’s (https://www.indianamericansoflexington.org/) Diwali Celebration, keep the festivities going with our local Diwali “Festival of Lights” on Wednesday, November 6th between 5:30-8:30 pm. The event is organized by Lexington Together, the Lexington Economic Development Office, Indian Americans of Lexington, and the Lexington Chamber of Commerce.
